Before further testing and production are carried out, luminaires
under development are subjected to a thermal endurance programme
designed to test their durability in a variety of ambient temperature
conditions.
The test is designed to stress the product by operating it for
168 hours at 10% above rated voltage and at an ambient temperature
10ºC higher than the maximum the product is designed for. Cyclic
switching is automatically controlled and the test duration recorded.
The endurance enclosure can accommodate two luminaires and can
reproduce ambience of up to 60ºC to test for any operating
climate, particularly valuable when designing products suitable
for the international market. The chamber has been designed to test
for any ambient temperature in the world up to and including equatorial
regions.
