| Sharing
the knowledge
If you need or desire to learn about current issues affecting exterior
lighting you may want to come along to our CPD (continuing professional
development) seminars, designed to further the knowledge and skills
of those practising within the lighting industry across all sectors
– lighting design, town planning, landscape design, crime
prevention and housing development to name just a few.
For example you’re probably aware of the need to minimise
light pollution, but what exactly is light pollution and what are
the ramifications you need to consider when minimising it? Similarly,
much is made of the ability of lighting to act as a crime deterrent,
but exactly when is lighting a deterrent and when not? Which luminaire
characteristics are desirable and which detrimental in a crime prone
environment? These are just some of the questions addressed in this
year’s programme of seminars.

What exactly is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development is an educational system designed
to keep vital knowledge and skills of professionals current (personal,
technical and commercial). Employers need to know that staff are
keeping themselves informed on the latest developments, and are
broadening their skills base as their job specification changes.
